A suicide bomber blew himself up in Stockholm this weekend and was just minutes away from wreaking carnage among Christmas shoppers. The man was carrying a cocktail of explosives and could have caused massive casualties. The bomber Taimour Abdulwahab, was the only person to die in Saturday’s attack. Two other people were injured when the bomber detonated a car before blowing himself up.

US President Barack Obama future legislative plans could be jeopardize after Republicans gained 60 seats in the House of Representatives in midterm elections. It was a crushing defeat, the Republican party won 239 seats in the House, giving the GOP control of the chamber for the first time since 2006. This shows a real power shift as Obama’s party lost not just the Senate seat that he vacated for the White House, but control of two states that have been Democratic since the 1870s.
